Golf Course Birds
BRAMBLING
A winter visitor to the golf club, not seen every year. Largest flock recorded was of 25 birds.
RED KITE
A regular visitor to the golf course.
BARN OWL CHICK
My favourite bird, the Barn Owl. Bred in a box in 2016 raising 4 chicks successfully. Barn Owls returned in 2020 seen numerous times late evening, thought to have nested in a tree.
RAVEN
The Raven used to be a very uncommon visitor but a pair have been hanging around Feb/March 2021. 6 Ravens were seen on the Carthagena course on 19th March 2021.
KINGFISHER
Often all you see of a Kingfisher is the flash of turqoise blue as it flies quickly past but sometimes you get lucky and find it perched. The last couple of years there have been more sightings of 2 Kingfishers together and it is thought they have bred on the course.
GREYLAG GOOSE
The Greylag is usually seen flying over but sometimes they come into land and have a wander about.

SONG THRUSH SINGING
The Song Thrush is not seen that often on the Golf Course, It's usually the Mistle Thrush that is seen. This one is singing from the top of a tree early one morning.

Goldfinch
Goldfinch feeding on nyjer seed outside the clubhouse.
Redwing
Redwing is a common winter visitor to John o Gaunt, often seen in large flocks on either course. usually around till March
Kingfisher
Kingfisher at rest just before flying off. 16th March 2022, 1st sighting in a few months of Kingfisher.
