Review for the Opticron Golf 600 6x21 Laser Rangefinder

The Rangefinder arrived well packaged and protected by bubble wrap. It was in a nice little box complete with a carry case and strap, Lens cleaning cloth and of course instructions on how to use it.

It is nice and easy to hold in one hand, lightweight and the buttons on top are accessible with thumb and forefinger.

I would suggest reading the instructions thoroughly to understand what each of the buttons does and what the different symbols on the display mean.

I found the Rangefinder easy to use. When looking through the eyepiece you simply press the red power button which brings up the crosshairs, focus on your intended object such as a flag and it gives you the distance in metres along level ground. I also found it useful on one hole to gauge the distance to the bunker bank and the flag behind it so if playing over the bunker you can easily choose your club or adjust your shot accordingly. It does not pick up small/thin objects such as the Pin from distances over 250m but will pick up larger objects such as trees at up to 600m which is useful if there is a tree near the green for instance or picking up hazards between tee and green.

It also has a Mode button on the top which when pressed will give you the reading for slopes (up or down) and the level reading so you can see how much difference the slope makes to the distance you hit the ball. If uphill the distance increases, if downhill it decreases. I found this feature very useful.

Overall, I think this device would be a useful addition to a golfer’s equipment bag and will make the game a bit easier in helping the golfer choose the appropriate club a bit more accurately.

I am currently looking into possible other uses for this rangefinder other than in the game of golf and will add to this review at a later date.
